About Body Shape Calculator

A free, fast, and private tool for understanding your body shape.

What we built and why

Body Shape Calculator is a free web tool that helps people discover their body shape โ€” hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle, and the male equivalents โ€” using either manual measurements or a photo analysed entirely on their own device.

The most common searches we see are people genuinely trying to understand their silhouette so they can shop smarter, dress more confidently, and find styles that work for them. We built the most accurate, respectful, and privacy-conscious tool we could.

How the calculator works

Manual mode uses a percentage-based classification algorithm. You enter your bust (or chest), waist, and hip measurements in centimetres or inches. The calculator compares these proportions against a fixed set of rules โ€” for example, an hourglass shape requires the bust and hips to be within 5% of each other and the waist to be 75% or less of their average. Because the rules are percentage-based, the result is identical whether you measure in cm or inches.

Photo mode (estimate) uses Google MediaPipe โ€” a lightweight AI framework โ€” to detect body landmarks and estimate shoulder, waist, and hip widths from a segmentation mask. This processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly; no image data is ever sent to a server. Photo results are marked as estimates because image quality, pose, and clothing all affect accuracy.

Our values

We are committed to body-positive framing. Body shapes are categories, not rankings. Every shape is equally valid and beautiful, and the purpose of this tool is purely practical: helping you find clothes that fit and flatter your unique proportions.

This tool does not make any claims about health, fitness, or attractiveness. Results are for informational and styling purposes only and should never be interpreted as medical advice.
